This one was born special.
Like all kalashtar, his dual souls gave him a depth and mental power that made him remarkable. Unlike most kalashtar, his souls struggled for control of his mind.
The first, Nevi, is his kalashatar spirit soul. It is active, paranoid, aggressive, and moody. Tashar, his Adaran monk soul, is stable, calm, and perceptive.
Escape from the Shard
Like two people trapped in the same body, Nevi Tashar’s decisions have been confusing and contradictory at every turn. He volunteered as a siege breaker to run a message through the Dreaming Dark, then surrendered to them and was tortured for a year. Finally he surrendered his mind to rage and crushed the minds of his torturers. He walked calmly out of the compound, killing everyone who got near him.
But cowardice set in again when he prepared to return to Adar. Instead he jumped from one shard to the next, where his poorly controlled but very powerful telepathic powers caused him to accidentally kill people he was supposed to protect.
Hermitage on Esey
For the last five years, he has roamed an abandoned shard near the surface called Esey, communing with the wildlife and plants. These were the most restful and happiest times of his life. Sometimes, during a tempestuous dream, he would wake up on another shard and struggle to return. But he always would.
Esey was free of stress or danger, and Nevi never wanted for company.
Nevi Tashar just woke up from an intense nightmare. He finds himself on Valeya, and he can’t remember how to get back to Esey. Nor can he remember how to get to Adar. He’s stranded with nothing but his broken mind and a fear of what it could do. He must learn to control it. He also currently feels a desire to find Adar and someone end the Dreaming Dark siege once and for all.
The war between these souls and events of the last few years has wreaked havoc on the poor fellow’s mind. Nevi suffers from schizophrenia and anxiety disorder. His normally insightful kalashtar eyes see things that aren’t there. But his mind is very strong, and with training there’s no telling what it could do.
